Root Canal Therapy:
When the nerve inside your tooth dies, whether due to disease or injury, the tooth might be saved with root canal therapy.
Inside each tooth there is a blood supply called a pulp, which supplies nutrients and nerves to the tooth. The pulp runs like a thread down through the root; when it is diseased or injured, the pulp tissue dies. This can manifest with extreme pain, especially when you lie down at night, and will react to hot and cold with a painful experience. This infection, if left untreated, will result in tooth loss and could affect you systemically. The bacteria associated with infection of the pulp has been traced to heart disease.
At West Cobb Dental Designs, we are experienced dentists in root canal therapy. In most instances, root canal therapy is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort. The process, removing the diseased pulp, may take 2 visits. Once the root canal treatment has been completed, a crown will be fitted to protect the tooth from potential fracture.
An expertly performed root canal can save your tooth and your smile!
