Crowns and Bridges

If you are missing teeth and experiencing jaw discomfort, or are having difficulty speaking or smiling, there are alternatives for you.

Bridges

Traditional Fixed Bridges:  A traditional fixed bridge will replace your missing teeth, while maintaining the shape of your face and alleviating the stress of your bite.  A bridge or fixed partial denture is the same color as your natural teeth and can replace one or more teeth that have been lost.  The traditional bridge is anchored onto the teeth adjacent to the missing teeth and cannot be removed.

Implant BridgesIn instances where there are more missing teeth than a traditional fixed bridge can accommodate, implant bridges may be used.  Titanium implants are anchored into the jaw bone creating a stable support for new teeth.  Implants help reduce bone loss by actually stimulating bone growth through the body’s natural renewal process.  Implants offer improved function over partial and fixed bridges, improved hygiene and may be implemented without destruction of healthy tooth structures.

Crowns: Dental crowning is a process in which a tooth is restored with an all porcelain covering or porcelain fussed to metal covering called a crown.  If a tooth is broken down or has had a root canal and routine filling will not restore it to function, a crown will be recommended.  Crowns will aid the retention of teeth that have been severally compromised by large silver or white fillings or broken or cracked teeth that cannot be repaired any other way short of an extraction (removal of the tooth).
