Often composites require less tooth structure be removed when preparing the tooth and may result in a smaller filling than traditional Amalgam fillings. Many adults are opting to replace their existing amalgam fillings with composite fillings due to concerns over the mercury contained in amalgam fillings. While there have been no conclusive studies regarding dangers related to the mercury in amalgam fillings, concerns exist regarding the levels of mercury contained in them. |
